mr philip mitchell ​issued 30th june 2017 ​ swleoc has a significant group of patients who have received metal-on-metal implants in the past, however the use of these implants has reduced significantly. swleoc has always followed each alert the medicines and healthcare products regulatory agency​ (mhra), has been published regarding the guidance for follow-up of patients with metal-on-metal hip replacements. we have a large number of patients who underwent metal-on-metal hip replacement here at swleoc and have attempted to follow up all patients. some patients declined follow-up, some may not have received their approach letter, but most patients are doing fine and some have needed revision surgery. the medicines and healthcare products regulatory agency​ (mhra) are recommending continued follow-up and this has always been our intention. we will continue to act in accordance with mhra guidelines, you may be invited back for follow-up -
